Add a content slider to WordPress

Slides that hold any blocks you like, a quote, a feature card or a whole case study. Visitors swipe, click the arrows or dots, or let it play, and it rewinds at the end.

Type

A Grinner block

Find it

Press + and search “Content Slider”

Phones

Swipe, with a hint until the first swipe

Speed

No script unless it has controls or autoplay

What you can change

The settings worth knowing.

A layout sets most of it. Then decide how it moves and which controls show.

Content Slider layouts, Full width, Peek, Centred and Cards drawn one above the other

Layout

Four layouts

Full width shows one slide, Peek lets the next one show at the edge, Centred shrinks the neighbors, and Cards adds a progress bar.

Content Slider slides per view, three slides on desktop, two on tablet and one on a phone

Slides per view

Per screen size

Set how many show on desktop, tablet and phone. The slider measures its own width, so in a narrow column it takes its phone look.

Content Slider autoplay, a slide with a round Pause button and a timer line

Autoplay

Plays, with a Pause

On for Full width and off for the rest unless you switch it on. A Pause button shows while it plays, and keyboard focus pauses it too.

Content Slider controls, dots, pills and a 02 / 06 count under three slides

Dots

Dots, pills or a count

Dots, pills, a 02 / 06 count or nothing, with arrows inside, outside or below, in solid, outline or soft.

How to add it

Three steps. No new tool.

1

Install Grinner free

It’s on WordPress.org. Or go to Plugins, Add New, and search for Grinner Blocks.

2

Add Content Slider

Press + and search for Content Slider, choose a layout, then fill each slide with any blocks.

3

Set the controls

Pick autoplay, arrows and dots, color the controls and each slide, then publish.

Good to know

Fair questions.

A row of slides, each holding ordinary blocks such as a quote, a card or a picture with a button. Visitors move through them by swiping, with arrows or dots, or by letting it play.

Its styles are small, and the script only loads when it has arrows, dots, a count or autoplay. Pictures in slide 2 onwards always wait until they’re needed.

Swiping moves it, and a small Swipe chip shows until the first swipe. Inside arrows move to the top right corner, and outside arrows go below.

While it plays, a Pause button is always there, and focus pauses it. With reduced motion on, autoplay never starts and every move is an instant jump.

No. At the end it rewinds to the first slide or stops. There’s no vertical slider either.

Pairs well with

Try it with these.

For a moving strip of pictures only, use Image Slider. Use Content Slider when each slide needs words or a button.

Turn what’s inside a slide into a framed card.

Show one project’s progress on each slide.
